After graduating with a First in English from Cambridge University, and a Distinction from The Acting Company at The Arts Educational Schools - where I trained in Voice with Barbara Houseman and Anne-Marie Speed - I spent more than ten years as an actor and singer, and developed sidelines as a workshop leader and as a researcher/writer, including projects for the V&A Theatre Museum website and the British Library. I then did the MA in Voice Studies at Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with Distinction and, shortly after that, joined the Voice Department of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I worked full-time as a voice coach for the RSC for nearly eight years, five of those as Senior Text and Voice Coach. I worked on many, many productions, including Michael Boyd’s award-winning Histories cycle, Rupert Goold's Romeo and Juliet and Nancy Meckler's A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as devising and directing recitals and events and directing a production of Othello as part of the RSC’s partnership with Ohio State University.

My work at the RSC also included a strong component of corporate work, offering workshops and events in conjunction with the Development Department, and a great deal of work in schools and other educational establishments with the Education Department.

I am honoured to have been made an Associate Artist of the RSC in recognition of my contribution to the company.

I have now been freelance for more than a decade, and continue to work extensively with the RSC, and other theatre companies, as well as offering workshops and one-to-one coaching across a diverse range of companies and individuals. I was also proud to be the Voice and Text Coach for the Bral School of Acting, working alongside Grzegorz Bral of Teatr Pieśń Kozła (Song of the Goat Theatre Company), as well as working collaboratively with the company.

Other productions include King Charles III for the Almeida and West End; Tamburlaine for Theatre for a New Audience in New York; Iqbal Khan's Othello for the RSC; Hamlet at the Barbican, with Benedict Cumberbatch; The Merry Wives of Windsor and Women Beware Women at the Globe Theatre; and more seasons for TFANA in New York - Measure for Measure, The Winter’s Tale and Julius Caesar. I also returned to OSU to direct Romeo and Juliet in Columbus, Ohio.

I’ve also worked within many different musical genres: I was a Choral Scholar at university, performed professionally as a soloist in musicals and solo cabaret, and have sung in choirs of all shapes and sizes. I trained as a singing leader with Frankie Armstrong and am a member of the Natural Voice Network.
